Application for the Master Film course

Please submit the following documents with your application as part of the aptitude assessment:

1. At least 1, maximum 3 work samples (audiovisual projects) – as a video link (YouTube, Vimeo). Please do not submit film trailers or compilations of your films.
2. List of submitted work samples, including your role(s) in each project. Please add a maximum of 3 sentences about the content of each work sample.
3. Project outline of the planned MA Film project idea (written exposé – max. 3 pages)
   The project outline should also clearly indicate the film craft you are aiming for (e.g., screenplay, directing, cinematography, editing, sound design, production, etc.).
4. Please briefly describe the possible topic you plan to address in your theoretical thesis (max. 1 page).
5. BA/Diploma certificate or transcript of grades for the final semester
6. Declaration that the positions named in the submitted work samples were carried out independently.

The application is not complete and will not be graded if all the required documents and work are not uploaded.

Important note regarding application for a place on the course:

The course starts annually in the summer semester and is open to all applicants. 

Applications for a place on the course for the 2026 summer semester can be submitted on the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts study portal from December 1, 2025, to January 15, 2026. 

Enrollment for the program is only possible after recognition of suitability and fulfillment of the other admission requirements!
